Get To Know Team OC Flag Football

It was an early morning, 3 a.m. to be exact, and the Team OC flag football team shuffled onto the bus to take to the airport. Although we were tired, the team was ready to take on Atlanta to repeat their gold medal performance last year.

Team OC — Orange County, Calif. — sent 12 active participants to Atlanta, 10 of whom are looking to defend their title in flag football. The team is lead by Coach, David Woolbert and Quarterback, Davey Singer. Davey is in his fourth and final year of Maccabi and is sad, but excited about his final year. “I’m really bummed, so I’m trying to make the most out of it,” Davey said,  “Hopefully taking a gold in the end of the Games if we can continue improving as a team.”

Last year was the first time Team OC had a flag football team, but the guys were dedicated and hungry to win gold. This year, the team looks a little different after losing a few members and replacing them with new athletes, but the team has really good chemistry and hopes to chase the gold medal again this year.

In the first day of competition OC was defeated by Atlanta in overtime, and lost to Nashville 33-20.

Team OC’s other two representatives are Star Reporter Ari Wohl and bowler Allie Morros.
